Crochet Pumpkin Hat in soft baby yarn |
Fall is the most beautiful season in Canada. Layers of layers of colors make everything look like an oil painting, from dark burgundy to vivid red, bright orange to golden, greenish yellow to light brown. It makes me tipsy eye tasting the natural deliciousness that mother earth provides.
It's also the season of pumpkins. This year, I decide to make a little pumpkin hat for my little pumpkin Sebastian. It's a simple crochet pattern with a dark brown stem on top. It can be made to adjust different sizes from newborns to adults.
I put the pumpkin hat on him when Chris and I took him to the pumpkin patch. So adorable!!! We picked a more than 30lbs pumpkin, cleaned it and carved it into a teacup to make this pumpkin in the pumpkin picture. AWW... he's just so so adorable!

Start: Ch 28
Row 1: Half dc in the next 5 st. Dc in the next 18 st. Sc in the next 5 st.
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. Sc in the back loop of the next 4 st. Dc. in back loop of the next 18 st. Half dc in the back loop of the next 5 st.
Row 3: Ch 2 and turn. Half dc in the back loop of the next 4 st. Dc. in back loop of the next 18 st. Sc. in the back loop of the next 5 st.
Repeat row 2 & 3 until you reach the desired length (about 17in., 43cm for my 6 months old). End the yarn on the half dc side.
Sew together the starting row and the last row with a yarn needle. Only sew the outside loop so that the hat looks seamless.
Carefully close the whole on the top of the hat by sewing the sc side together. Place the pumpkin stem on the top center of the hat and sew them together.
